Morphogenesis Architecture Studio was
established in 1996, by three partners, Sonali Srivastava Rastogi,
Manit Rastogi and Sanjay Bharadwaj. Sonali and Manit hold double
Masters Degrees from the acclaimed Architectural Association, London.
At Morphogenesis, they see themselves as working in an architectural
laboratory, constantly advancing the boundaries of design through
technology. Working across widely divergent project scales, they
believe, is one of their core strengths. As variety enriches their
own cross-referencing system, they approach projects of all scales
and types, whether it be a town- ship to a townhouse, with the same
zeal and passion for detail.
It is their constant endeavour to develop an Indian response to
the forces of globalisation. Which is why they use an R&D approach
to building materials and construction technology...an approach
that allows them to experiment with new materials in a quest for
tectonic perfection and new millennium solutions. This gives their
technique a fluidity and dynamism that evokes a kind of architecture,
where the design process itself is multi-dimensional, netwirked
and cosmopolitan.
In the past few years, Morphogenesis has won several awards including
the IIA Award for Excellence in Public Architecture, the A+D award
for Architecture for interiors and the Jindal Stainless Steel Award,
to name a few. Internationally, their work has been presented at
the Gallery ROM in Norway and has also been exhibited at the prestigious
RlBA in an exhibition titled 'Critical Projects; side by side with
works of Zaha Hadid, Rem Koolhaas, multi-dimensional, networked
and cosmopolitan. Michael Hopkins and Bernard Schumi.
The Apollo Tyres Corporate Headquarters will be displayed in the
soon- to-be published Phaidon International Atlas of the world's
400 best contemporary buildings.
